Last night Saaremaa Maheköök threw a party for over 50 Spring Market flower growers, our first public event at the restaurant, and the night before our official opening party (which is tonight). We were honoured to have Kersti Randmaa, Estonia's leading exponent of Indian dance, give a special performance.

GK talu opens officially 1st June, but we're already getting heaps of visitors - too many to blog them all! The shop stock of art & craft items is gradually filling up. And the cafe bar is taking shape once more for the summer season. This year we are delighted to offer a very tasty and much expanded organic food menu, and some great organic wines & beers too.
Saaremaa Maheköök (Saaremaa Organic Kitchen) is due to open in about 3 days.
Building work continues apace... Here the glorious transformation of the backyard into a deck, and BBQ grill area....
Mmm.. you can almost smell the marinaded kebabs sizzling away already....

We had paper insulation put into the floor cavities today! Hoorah!
The upstairs work had been stalled for the last 5 months... boo hoo...
Maybe now we're getting back on track with the "green renovation".

We had visitors from the Ministry of Agriculture today. We were expecting grey men in grey suits, but found ourselves hosting 4 cheerful young ladies instead. They came to GK Talu to check out the soaps, and got a big speech from the foreigner (er, me) about Green tourism development! ... remember carbon footprinting, girls... talk to your friends in the environment ministry... green energy infrastructure development.... GK is a modular business model for rural enterprise .... you know where we are... !!! Thanks to you all.

Saaremaa Organic Kitchen Kuressaare, offers fresh organic food brought directly from local farms, including organic lamb, beef & goat. The restaurant offers beef steaks, grilled lamb kebabs and gourmet burgers, traditional style dishes, locally caught fish (catch of the day), vegetarian dishes, chef's specials, and wholesome children's meals. There's also a wide selection of organic wines and unique beers. With seating for 84 patrons, the Organic Kitchen is one of the largest independent restaurants in Saaremaa, and the only restaurant in Estonia specializing in organic food!
